Dealing With Failure – You Don’t Have To Be Perfect

Welcome to another episode of Juice With Us Tv. My name is Lionel Correia and today we’re going to talk about Dealing With Failure in Your Transformation.

There are quite a few reasons why people fail or give up when dieting. One of these is perfectionism. People go into a diet thinking that they will handle it perfectly and not make any mistakes.

They will eat the exact foods they are supposed to. They will drop pounds just as they expect and they will live a happy, healthy life. Then, something happens to derail their plans.  Many people expect their diet to be perfect and when they fail or don’t lose weight after a specific time period they get upset and quit.

Here’s a little secret. You don’t have to be perfect! In fact, you won’t be perfect. No one is. You are going to make mistakes with your juicing and eating habits and that’s ok. It’s not the end of the world. It’s not actually about making the mistake or having that small failure, but instead it’s about how you handle those failures.

When something goes wrong in your life or you have a little failure in your transformation do you react to the situation, turn a little crazy and get all bent out of shape or do you respond, think about what happened and try to find an appropriate solution.

For example, let’s say you you’ve been working hard 2 weeks into your transformation and you get on the scale in hopes that you’ve dropped some pounds and you find out that you unfortunately did not.  This would be considered a small failure.  How you handle it makes a world of difference.  You can either get wildly upset or you can stop be blatantly honest with yourself and figure out what went wrong.

Once you understand that most likely you’ll have little setbacks and it’s not the setbacks that will stop you, but how you handle them, you will find it much easier to be successful with your transformation.

Don’t Beat Yourself Up

During your transformation, you’ll want to see results immediately, but that isn’t always going to happen. It won’t always happen consistently either, so don’t beat yourself up.  Focus instead on changing your habits.  Eventually, if you focus on strengthening your healthy habit building muscles and changing your lifestyle you will see positive results.

Stop-Beating-Yourself-Up

So if you don’t lose weight one week or even if you gain a pound back, don’t beat yourself up about it.  You probably weren’t perfect that week and it truly isn’t an end to your long term goal. It is just a minor setback.

It is not a reason to give up, so instead of beating yourself up and getting angry, just get more motivated to make changes next week. Use the small mistakes as learning steps and keep moving forward so you can enjoy the results you know you’re capable of.

Perfectionism is overrated. In fact, if you expect yourself to be perfect, you are setting yourself up for disaster, and that’s a great way to end up giving up. Instead, cut yourself a little break, know that everything will not be perfect, and stay organized to keep your plans in order and on track with your goal.
