Five Foods for Better Skin

By on March 4, 2015

If you are standing in the beauty section trying to find that amazing lotion or cream that will give you beautiful, glowing skin, you are not in the right section. Instead, head over to the organic produce section and start healing your skin from the inside. When you put the right foods in your body, you give it all the nutrients it needs to keep your skin looking radiant – and better than any expensive potion that you might find in the beauty department. The following five foods will help you get that gorgeous skin you crave, and make it look healthier than ever.

Kale
Kale is one of nature’s super foods. It provides a wealth of vitamins and nutrients that your body needs to be at its best. It is also an excellent source of vitamins A and C, and the antioxidant lutein. All three of these nutrients help to minimize free radicals in the body, and vitamin C also helps with collagen production and skin elasticity – both of which are major components of healthy, glowing skin.

Peppers
Yellow and green peppers have plenty of carotenoids and other antioxidants, and these can do wonder for your skin. The carotenoids not only help to get rid of those pesky free radicals, they also help to make your skin less sensitive to the sun. There have even been studies that have shown that adding peppers and other green and yellow produce can help lessen the appearance of wrinkles as well.

Pomegranates
Pomegranates are serious super foods as well. Those little arils (seeds) inside the fruit are packed with antioxidants, which are beneficial for your entire body and your skin. The antioxidants help to get rid of free radicals that can wreak havoc on skin. Additionally, they also contain significant amounts of vitamins C and K, which also help your skin look soft, radiant, and healthy. You can either eat the arils, juice them, or even grind them up to make a scrub that will keep your skin looking amazing.

Carrots
No matter where you go, carrots are always at the top of any list of beneficial foods. These bright, crunchy veggies pack lots of vitamins A and C, antioxidants, and beta-carotene. When you add carrots to your diet, you help to get rid of skin-dulling free radicals. You also give your skin added protection from UV damage. Just make sure you don’t overdo your carrot consumption, or your healthy glow will take on a decidedly orange hue that isn’t quite what we mean by a healthy “glow”.

Kiwi
Kiwi is filled with beneficial vitamin C, and a single medium sized fruit can give you almost 120% of your recommended daily allowance. Your skin absolutely loves vitamin C, as it helps to increase collagen production naturally. The result is smooth, supple skin that is wrinkle free.

These five foods give your skin exactly what it needs to be healthy, radiant, and beautiful. Ditch all those lotions and creams, and let your skin’s natural beauty shine from the inside.
