Juicing Tips: Making It Easier & Healthier

Juicing is a simple and healthy way to consume a large variety of fruits and vegetables. It is also a great way to detox your body as it aides cleansing the body.

Here are some great juicing tips to make juicing healthy, easy and fun.

1. When selecting fruit or vegetables for juicing, go for dark green produce to make the base of your drinks. Green vegetables like broccoli, chard, or spinach should contribute for the major part of your juice. Leafy greens such as  spinach and parsley have a variety of health benefits. Other veggies and fruits can be added for flavor. Fruit juices are sweeter and more appealing but compared to green veggies, but they are loaded with sugar and calories and hence are not as healthy.

2. Patients with diabetes or hypoglycemia should only consume vegetable juices until you consult your doctor. Sugars from fruit juices can dramatically increase sugar levels.

3. You can use color as a guide to select fruits and vegetables for juicing.  Different colors of fruits and vegetables correspond to different vitamins and minerals. So put a variety of colors into your juicer before you juice them up.

4. Ginger is a great addition to juices for relieving digestive issues such as heartburn and indigestion. Adding it your juice drinks can give you that refreshing punch and it also helps in healing.

5. Another juicing tip is to add apple or lemon enhance the taste of a juice. A vegetable which complements every juice combination is carrots. Cucumbers though bland, have ample amount of fluid in them and would make a great base.

6. It is best to consume fresh juice within 20 minutes of preparing it. If you need to store juice owing to busy schedule, remember to fill the container fully so as to prevent oxygen getting in and depleting the nutrients.

7. Wash your juicer right after use.The fruit and vegetable particles dry up on the juicer and makes it difficult to clean if you let them sit.
